The Sri Dharmasthala Manjunatheshwara Industrial Training Institute (SDM ITI) Venur has received special recognition from the Skill Development Ministry, Government of India under the Skill Strengthening for Industrial Value Enhancement (STRIVE) project. SDM ITI is the only institute from the state of Karnataka amongst the 193 institutions across India that have received recognition from the government under the STRIVE project.
The institute has been awarded a grant of Rs 2 Crore, an amount that has been reserved for skill development programs, extension activities, higher standard of training and implementation of better equipment in the college. The institute was established in the year 1986 with 9 courses including the courses in electrician and motor vehicle mechanic. ITI Venur was awarded the recognition and grant after it cleared the various stages of selection thus proving its worth. The institute has also signed MOUs with various organizations such as Toyota, Tata, Bosch etc for implementing actual machinery at the Institute thus ensuring that the students get practical hands on experience along with their academics.
SDM ITI, Venur students receive professional hands-on-training at the institute itself which allows them to begin their professional careers with the best available opportunities in the field. Also, the recognition and the grant received will help it ensure that the students avail better chance at skill development and other opportunities. Some of the organisation and companies that have frequent the SDM ITI Venur campus for campus placements in the past include Toyota, Tata, L and T, Volvo and other national/international firms.
